Peder Bundgaard

Born 1945. Self-taught. Has since 1968 worked professionally as a magazine illustrator, book illustrator, painter, graphic designer, photographer, author, lecturer, etc. Known for designing record covers for Gasolin ’and many other Danish rock names. Was also a regular illustrator for the author Dan Turèll. In addition, cartoonist at Ekstra Bladet and Svikmøllen for over 20 years.

Now he primarily works with paintings done in acrylic on canvas. The portrayed come from the world of music, books or film. Their energy and charisma are emphasized with strong, poster-like colors and powerful contours. But behind the mask is often a vulnerable and conflict-filled human being. This is also the case in these iconographic and ambiguous portraits, where American Pop Art meets the Danish cartoonist tradition.
